The Basics
What is Productive Dev?
Productive Dev is a developer training gym. It gives you a consistency system, proof-of-work tracking, and developer accountability. It is not a passive course library.
Who is this for?
It is built for CS students, bootcamp grads, career switchers, self-taught developers, new grads, and early-career engineers who can code but need a repeatable training system to improve output and consistency.
Is this a course?
No. Productive Dev is a training engine. We currently offer three structured programs: Web Engineering Level Up, Python Level Up, and LeetCode Level Up. You can start with these programs or use your own resources, and the engine tracks standards and proof either way.
Cohort Entry
How does cohort entry work?
When enrollment is open, the cohort is a time-boxed entry option: claim your seat, complete checkout, then create your account or sign in (same email as checkout) to unlock the dashboard. After that, join Discord and start logging sessions toward the weekly standards.
Can I skip the cohort and go straight to membership?
Yes. The cohort is a temporary opportunity when it is open, not a permanent gate. If you prefer not to enter through the cohort, you can subscribe to classic monthly or annual membership directly when that option is available.
Do I need to apply and wait for review?
No. If enrollment is open, you can claim your seat immediately and continue to Stripe checkout.
Weekly Standards
What are the weekly standards?
Three measurable standards: 3 sessions per week, 90 minutes of focus time, and 2 distinct skill areas.
What counts as a session?
A session is any focused training block logged in your dashboard with proof. Program workouts and your own resources both count if logged.
What counts as proof of work?
Proof includes your session logs, focus minutes, notes, and optional links to commits, repos, demos, or PRs. Your weekly scorecard summarizes this work.
What happens if I miss a week?
One missed week triggers a warning. Two consecutive missed weeks move you to probation. Meet standards the next week to recover good standing.
Resources and Flexibility
Can I use my own resources?
Yes. You can use your own courses, books, interview prep sets, projects, and documentation. If you log the work, it counts.
Are live sessions required?
No. Live sessions are optional. Standards are based on completed work, not attendance at specific times.
Outcomes and Coaching
What outcomes should I expect?
The expected outcome is consistent weekly output: 3 sessions, 90 focus minutes, 2 skill areas, a proof scorecard, coached next steps, and monthly mentor sessions.
Will this guarantee a job?
No job guarantees. Productive Dev builds stronger engineering habits and visible proof of work so you become a more credible candidate.
Billing and Access
How does billing work?
The cohort seat is a one-time checkout when open. Ongoing membership is monthly or annual via Stripe.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. You can cancel from your dashboard. Access continues through the end of the billing period.
